Fast Response Hollow Elements

Hollow elements are designed for faster time response to temperature changes over the range of -100 to +260 degrees C. They are wire wound Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD's) made using Copper, Nickel, Nickel-Iron and Platinum as the sensing materials. The wire is placed close to the outside diameter of the element and the center is left hollow. With the center core mass removed, the response time of the element is greatly increased. The elements outside diameter is designed to fit closely to the inside diameter of the tube in which they are being installed. When this style of RTD is placed into a tube made with a material that has a fast thermal heat transfer such as Aluminum or Copper, the complete assembly will give very fast, accurate and repeatable temperature measurements. Below is a listing of the most common types of element sizes, wire type, Temperature Coefficients of Resistance (T.C.R.) for that wire and base resistance values. Other sizes of elements, resistance values and Temperature Coefficients are available upon request.
